COE CST Study Team U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has selected New Mexico State University (NMSU), Las Cruces, NM, to lead a new Air Transportation Center of Excellence for Commercial Space Transportation. The center is a partnership of academia, industry, and government, developed for the purpose of creating a world-class consortium that will address current and future challenges for commercial space transportation.

S-102 Mission Assurance Standards WG Standardization of methods for planning, implementing, and verifying a capability-based mission assurance (MA) program. A capability-based MA program is a set of activities that addresses MA risk factors at one or more predetermined capability levels. The set of activities is selected from 38 MA practices as necessary to define, implement, and verify mission assurance.
Standards Steering Committee (SSC) The Standards Steering Committee (SSC) • Develop and implement plans based on Board strategic direction. • Provide feedback to the Board on standards activities, including suggestions related to strategic initiatives. • Help identify areas in which AIAA should have standardization activities, including where we should bid to hold Secretariats and TAGs for ISO subcommittees. • Review new standards project proposals. • Ensure that AIAA Standards are being developed per proper procedure. • Approve new deliverables.
