COE CST Study Team U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has selected New Mexico State University (NMSU), Las Cruces, NM, to lead a new Air Transportation Center of Excellence for Commercial Space Transportation. The center is a partnership of academia, industry, and government, developed for the purpose of creating a world-class consortium that will address current and future challenges for commercial space transportation.

S-102 Mission Assurance Standards WG Standardization of methods for planning, implementing, and verifying a capability-based mission assurance (MA) program. A capability-based MA program is a set of activities that addresses MA risk factors at one or more predetermined capability levels. The set of activities is selected from 38 MA practices as necessary to define, implement, and verify mission assurance.
Standards Executive Council The Standards Executive Council (SEC) assists the AIAA Committees on Standards (CoS) by: • Setting the overall direction for the standardization work of the AIAA; • Assessing relevancy and driving need for AIAA standards in the aerospace community and determining new markets; and • Overseeing the initiation and development of new standards in growth areas as well as updating current standards.
